One of the better bets on the card presents here in the last, GOOD BUDDY. He probably should have won last time over 1200m when finishing runner-up to Science Patch. Then he produced the 11th-best final-200m (11.65) at the meeting and his form this season has been hard to knock overall. Hugh Bowman has drawn nicely in gate 1, and he should get the run of the race from there. ERIMO is flying having won his last two starts, but there is less pressure in this race on paper and he might be anchored somewhat by topweight and the lack of pace. Nonetheless, he too will enjoy a good run and will be right in the finish if allowed to build into it. HAPPY DAY was excellent last start and made my SID file when finishing 3rd to Happy Daily. A Pal was second in that race and he bolted-up at his subsequent start. TAMRA BLITZ is a horse to watch closely. He’s second-up for this prep and has drawn good barrier to sit far closer to the leaders than in two HK starts so far. The step to 1400m looks ideal as well given his UK record before arriving. Outside of those horses, COBHFIELD and DECRYPT are each poorly drawn (gates 12 &13 respectively) but have shown bits of good form and might hit the frame. Happy to say that Good Buddy, Happy Day and Cobhfield are all degrees of “overs” so will bet each accordingly.
