It’s hard to bet into this event with much confidence with so many (seven in total) newcomers and given most of them have looked to perform quite well in their respective trials without looking anything special. Of the debutants, the pick for me is SUPREME LUCKY who looked sharp in his work and has gate speed. The booking of James McDonald is another positive and I expect him to run well. However, ICE LEGEND, sets a good benchmark for others to reach. The drop in class and booking of Zac Purton are key positives, as he isn’t an easy ride. If he can settle midfield and get a clear run at them the last 300m he’s the horse to beat. SUPER SUNNY SING comes through a decent rating race won by Untold Riches, and he can figure in the finish although he tends to get back in the field. Maybe barrier 4 will help him naturally settle closer? He has received some shocking barriers in four career starts. BRAVE DREAMS won his last outing nicely, so he too merits consideration. He wasn’t overly penalised for the effort, so can repeat. I GIVE is the other debutant that might run well. He’s shown good pace in his trials and looks very well-prepped for this assignment. This is another race where my outlay will be relatively small given a few unknowns, happy playing Ice Legend and Supreme Lucky small though in the first instance.
