This is a very good race bringing together a group of horses that are going much higher in the ratings. One of those is VICTOR THE WINNER. He had obvious excuses when working too hard following missing the start at his last outing, but his win prior was excellent and now with JMac taking over the reins, the horse has plenty in his favour. But it will not be “a cakewalk”, as there are several others that look promising. SCIENCE PATCH is in very good form and finally notched his second Hong Kong win following a series of solid performances. GOLDEN EXPRESS (formerly Gulf Of Venice with David Vandyke) won his maiden at Doomben (Queensland, Australia) by 5-lengths and given Size and Purton team-up for a prominent Hong Kong, the public will latch-on. Golden Express would need to be good to be winning this race on local debut, but he might well be that. CIRCUIT TEN ran well on debut behind Superb Boy down the straight and can figure, while ISLAND GOLDEN easily beat vastly inferior opposition when he first stepped out, but is open to plenty of improvement. Then there is LORD THUNDER who hasn’t competed in 415 days following a promising “two from two” start to his career. His trials have been sound, but he’s returning from a tendon issue, so he has that in addition to some very stiff competition for his resumption.
